Memories From the 2023 Wine AuctionABOUT THE EVENTThe Morgan Hill Community Foundation (MHCF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit philanthropic organization that has been serving the community for over 20 years, with an all-volunteer board of local residents. Almost all funds raised by MHCF are granted to non-profits through an annual grants process which engages an advisory board to prioritize and allocate awards. There is a proven capability and appreciation of the Foundation to deliver for the community through partnership in support of multiple non-profit areas. In 2022 MHCF was recognized as Non-Profit of the year by the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce and was voted Best Community Organization by the readers of the Morgan Hill Times.
The need for non-profit support is increasing steadily and MHCF is working to help support these needs. The MHCF relies on fundraising to enable their grants process which includes holding events, obtaining sponsorships and individual donations. In 2023 a partnership was formed with the Santa Clara Valley Wine Association to hold a wine auction event in support of Santa Clara Valley Wineries and local restaurants. The event theme of “Taste, Connect and Make an Impact” was developed to emphasize tasting of wine and food, in combination with meeting and connecting with others while impacting non-profit organizations through funds raised. Approximately 250 people attended the inaugural event which included tastings from 20 wineries and 10 restaurants, along with auctions, held at the Guglielmo winery. The 2023 Wine Auction made an incredible impact to local non-profits. Ten non-profits received nearly $14,000 directly from participating in the auction. The Morgan Hill Community Foundation also granted over $28,000 raised from the auction and sponsorships to 13 local nonprofits or schools! The Wine Auction for 2024 is planned for May 4 th at the Clos LaChance Winery in San Martin and we are expanding the scope of the event with a plan for 400 to 500 guests with additional wineries participating. We are presently seeking donations of auction items for our silent and live auctions and sponsorships for the event. Event sponsors are an important part of fundraising as their support enables the funding for grants in addition to ticket sales and auction results. We are hopeful you will consider donating or sponsoring and look forward to discussing with you more how we can work together to support non-profits in the South County.
